These Terms of Use (Terms) govern your access to and use of the Rice and Rings website at riceandrings.co.uk and any related pages, features and services (together, the Site). The Site is operated by Rice and Rings (we, us, our). By accessing or using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. About Rice and Rings

Rice and Rings is an online directory that helps couples in the UK find, compare and contact wedding venues and wedding service providers (Providers). We publish listings and let you send an enquiry to one or more Providers.

We are a directory and information service only. We are not a venue, planner, photographer, caterer, broker, agent or insurer. We do not perform, quote, supply, arrange or guarantee any wedding service, and we are not a party to any contract, booking or dealing you enter into with a Provider. Any agreement for services is solely between you and the Provider.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a legally binding contract to use the Site. If you use the Site on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to bind that business to these Terms.

3. Using the Site

You may use the Site to search listings, compare Providers and submit genuine enquiries for your own legitimate purposes. You agree not to:

  • use the Site for any unlawful, fraudulent or misleading purpose;
  • submit false, deceptive or spam enquiries, or enquiries you do not genuinely intend to act on;
  • scrape, harvest, copy, republish or extract listings, data or content from the Site (including by automated means) without our prior written consent;
  • interfere with, overload, probe or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its servers or any account;
  • upload or transmit any virus, malware or harmful code;
  • post or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, obscene, infringing or otherwise objectionable; or
  • use the Site or any contact details obtained through it to send unsolicited marketing or to build a competing product or database.

4. Listings and enquiries

Listings are compiled from information supplied by Providers and from publicly available sources. While we take reasonable care, we do not warrant that any listing, price, rating, availability, licensing, insurance status or other detail is accurate, complete, current or suitable for your needs. Inclusion of a Provider is not a recommendation, endorsement, certification or guarantee by us.

When you submit an enquiry, you authorise us to forward your enquiry and the details you provide (such as your name, contact details and message) to the Provider(s) you select so they can respond to you. Once forwarded, the Provider handles your information under its own privacy practices, over which we have no control. We are not responsible for whether, when or how a Provider responds, or for the conduct, quotes, services, acts or omissions of any Provider.

You are responsible for making your own enquiries and for satisfying yourself about a Provider — including its quotes, terms, licensing and insurance — before engaging it.

5. Provider and business accounts

If you claim or manage a listing, you must provide accurate, current and complete information and keep it up to date. You warrant that you are authorised to represent the business, that the information you supply is true and not misleading, and that you hold any licences, registrations and insurance required by law for your services. Basic listing is free. We may edit, decline, suspend or remove any listing or account at our discretion, including where information is inaccurate, misleading or in breach of these Terms.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit (such as enquiries, reviews or listing information). By submitting content you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish and display that content for the purpose of operating, promoting and improving the Site. You are responsible for your content and warrant that you have the rights to submit it and that it is accurate and not misleading or unlawful.

7. Intellectual property

The Site and its content — including text, design, graphics, logos, layout, and the compilation and arrangement of listings — are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by Australian and international intellectual property laws. Except as permitted by these Terms or by law, you must not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially exploit any part of the Site without our prior written consent. Provider names, logos and trade marks remain the property of their respective owners.

8. Third-party links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites and services (including Providers' own sites). We provide these for convenience only and do not control, endorse or accept responsibility for any third-party site or its content, products or practices. Your use of any third-party site is at your own risk and subject to that site's terms.

9. Disclaimers and Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), including the Australian Consumer Law, or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded (Non-Excludable Rights).

Subject to your Non-Excludable Rights, the Site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", and to the maximum extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, representations and guarantees, whether express or implied, including as to accuracy, reliability, fitness for purpose and uninterrupted or error-free access.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject to your Non-Excludable Rights, we are not liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense (including indirect, special or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of data or loss of opportunity) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site, any listing, any enquiry, or any dealing with or service provided by a Provider. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied. To the extent we are liable, our total aggregate liability is limited to AUD $100.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against any claim, liability, loss, cost or expense (including reasonable legal costs) we suffer arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your infringement of any law or third-party right.

12. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the Site you consent to that handling.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to the Site or any account at any time, with or without notice, including if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or any law. You may stop using the Site at any time.

14. Changes to the Site and these Terms

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Site at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time by posting the updated version on this page with a new "last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the courts competent to hear appeals from them.

16. General

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it is severed and the remaining provisions continue in force. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site.
